Job Summary
Performs clerical func�ons for the City Clerk’s office. Processes various applica�ons and licenses
and maintains filing system.
Essen�al Job Du�es and Responsibili�es
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive
or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Performs clerical func�ons rela�ng to pre council mee�ngs including preparing list of
beer/liquor applica�ons for agenda and pos�ng agenda and other legal pos�ngs on
public bulle�n board.
• Provides informa�on to licensees and those seeking permits regarding City
requirements.
• Responds to beer/liquor applica�on and renewal ques�ons; monitors state
requirements, processes applica�ons; accepts fees; and updates applica�on computer
files; and processes associated supplemental applica�ons.
• Mails cigarete permit reminders; accepts fees; processes applica�ons; and maintains
computer and hard copy files.
• Maintains Department of Criminal Inves�ga�on (DCI) account balance informa�on and
criminal background requests for beer / liquor / taxi applica�ons.
• Maintains files; distributes code supplements to departments, responds to ques�ons,
and updates code books.
• Posts no�ces of City Council and Commission mee�ngs.
• Accepts City mail delivery and maintains tracking for City registered delivered mail.
• Maintains office equipment maintenance informa�on and contacts; maintains log of
copier numbers and orders supplies for and office equipment.
• Maintains current contact informa�on for City Council members.
• Prepares transcrip�on correc�ons as needed.
• Provides back up to other staff as needed.
• Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the
workplace and community.
• Performs notary services and all other related du�es as assigned.

Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
• High school educa�on or G.E.D. and four to six months of related experience or training;
or equivalent combina�on of educa�on and experience.
• Must pass criminal background check.
Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
• High school educa�on or G.E.D. and seven to twelve months of related experience or
training; or equivalent combina�on of educa�on and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abili�es
• Ability to add, subtract, mul�ply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common frac�ons, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruc�ons furnished in
writen, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to compute rate, ra�o, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situa�ons.
• Ability to effec�vely communicate, both orally and in wri�ng, to the community, the City
Council and employees.
• Ability to maintain inter- and intra- department confiden�ality.
• Ability to read and interpret laws, ordinances and reports.
• Ability to reliably and predictably carry out du�es.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Knowledge of general records maintenance.
• Knowledge of general office policies and procedures.
• Skill in using computers and applicable so�ware applica�ons (Microso� Office – Word,
Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn Laserfiche and MUNIS.

No supervision of direct reports.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The
employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands
and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or
crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception
and ability to adjust focus.
