Job Summary
Under general direc�on, acts as a lead worker for night crew cleaning and servicing transit
buses. Plans and assigns daily work schedules.
Essen�al Job Du�es and Responsibili�es
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive
or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Adds fuel and other fluids to buses; replaces light bulbs; checks �re pressures and
batery water levels.
• Places buses on hold list depending on pending defect card.
• Vacuums interior of buses and mops floors; cleans seats.
• Removes and replaces adver�sing.
• Washes exterior of buses and parks for use in transit system.
• Assigns buses to routes and locks facility at closing �me.
• Plans and assigns next day's work schedule, trains new employees.
• Probes buses fare boxes and puts money in safe.
• Locks and secures facility.
• Steams bus engines monthly.
• Monitors cleaning supplies when needed and no�fies appropriate person to order.
• Assigns buses to specific runs for the next day.
• Drains building air compressor at the end of each night.
• Maintains safe and secure environment that is free from hazards.
• Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the
workplace and community.
• Performs other du�es as assigned.
Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
• High school educa�on or G.E.D. and four to six months of related experience or training;
or equivalent combina�on of educa�on and experience. Experience in custodial work.
• Valid State of Iowa driver’s license with sa�sfactory driving record. Valid State of Iowa
Class B commercial driver's license with air brake and passenger endorsement required

within 90 days of hire. Meet federal drug tes�ng requirements. A pre-employment drug
screen. Must be 18 years of age. Must pass criminal background check.
Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
• High school educa�on or G.E.D. and seven to twelve months of related experience or
training; or equivalent combina�on of educa�on and experience. Experience in light
vehicle maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abili�es
• Ability to add, subtract, mul�ply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common frac�ons, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruc�ons furnished in
writen, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to compute rate, ra�o, and percent.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situa�ons.
• Ability to prepare writen records regarding bus and work schedules and damaged,
broken or worn parts, and requests for supplies.
• Ability to read and interpret technical materials and bus route maps and schedules,
safety rules, opera�ng and maintenance instruc�ons, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to reliably and predictably carry out du�es.
• Ability to speak effec�vely before groups of customers or employees of organiza�on.
• Knowledge of janitorial procedures and cleaning supplies.
• Knowledge of transit bus opera�on and service procedures.
• Skill in opera�ng transit vehicles and fueling and cleaning equipment.
Supervision
No supervision of direct reports.
