Provides technical assistance to system users. Essen�al Job Du�es and Responsibili�es The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. • Inspects personal computer equipment and reads order sheet lis�ng user requirements to prepare equipment for delivery, maintains hardware inventory. • Loads specified so�ware packages such as opera�ng systems, word processing or spreadsheet programs into computer in support of informa�on technology system standards. • Installs or assists service personnel in installa�on of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and disk drives on user's premises. • Responds to client inquiries concerning systems opera�on. • Analyzes and diagnoses system hardware, so�ware and operator problems. • Maintains and creates records descrip�ons according to established procedures. • Maintains documenta�on, program lis�ngs, layouts and other records in support of development, modifica�on or problem resolving efforts. • Assists with training efforts of new systems implementa�on, including documenta�on, instruc�on and hands-on training of others. • Maintains working knowledge of PC to server and server to PC interface. • Coordinates ac�vi�es with ITS Help Desk and other Informa�on Technology System groups. • Accurately es�mates effort required for assigned tasks, updates �me and billing. • Priori�zes tasks and communicates status to team members. • Refers major hardware problems to senior staff or vendor service personnel for correc�on. • On occasion, may perform higher classified work for the purpose of training and professional development. • Places out of service equipment on government deals website. Updated: March 2024 • Writes install procedures for so�ware programs and/or updates and documents current procedures. • Moves items from different departments to Informa�on Technology Systems and/or Tower Place. • Works with various so�ware companies to ensure product works on City network. • Par�cipates in on-call rota�on; checks commands nightly while in rota�on. • Researches new so�ware for users to purchase. • Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community. • Performs all other related du�es as assigned. Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other • Associate’s degree from an accredited educa�onal ins�tu�on; or two years of related experience and/or equivalent combina�on of educa�on and experience. Experience in computer or management informa�on systems. • Must pass criminal background check. Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other • Associate’s degree from an accredited educa�onal ins�tu�on and one year of related experience; or three years of related experience and/or equivalent combina�on of educa�on and experience. Experience with virtual desktop infrastructure. Knowledge, Skills, and Abili�es • Ability to add, subtract, mul�ply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common frac�ons, and decimals, ability to compute rate, ra�o, and percent. • Ability to interpret a variety of instruc�ons furnished in writen, oral, diagram, or schedule form. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, opera�ng and maintenance instruc�ons, and procedure manuals. • Ability to reliably and predictably carry out du�es. • Ability to solve prac�cal problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situa�ons where only limited standardiza�on exists. • Ability to speak effec�vely before groups of customers or employees of organiza�on. • Ability to write rou�ne reports and correspondence. • Skill in using computers and applicable so�ware applica�ons (Microso� Office – Word, Excel, Outlook) Adobe, McAfee An�-virus and other relevant so�ware.
