Job Summary
Under direc�on, assists with the opera�ons of swimming pool ac�vi�es, customer service areas
and recrea�on facili�es as assigned. Maintains a pleasant, safe and sanitary environment while
providing general guidance for hourly aqua�c and customer service staff. Provides a posi�ve
recrea�on experience for patrons.
Essen�al Job Du�es and Responsibili�es
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive
or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Assists with enforcing department rules, regula�ons and health, safety and sanita�on
policies.
• Organizes reports and tracks general records and data such as material data safety
sheets, user par�cipa�on counts, registra�on/reserva�on reports and swim lesson
rosters.
• Assists with recrui�ng, training, scheduling and providing general guidance to hourly
pool and customer service staff, monitors hours of hourly staff.
• Interacts with the general public and may handle complaints, concerns and sugges�ons.
• Assists with marke�ng such as designing flyers and providing input into seasonal ac�vity
guide materials, assists in event programming and outreach.
• Fills in for lifeguards, cashiers, lesson instructors, customer service staff and Program
Supervisor – Aqua�cs as needed.
• Assists in providing training courses such as CPR/First-Aid and LGI / WSIT training
courses, and in service.
• Collects pool samples for laboratory analysis and regular chemical tests for daily
recording. Assists with general cleaning and maintenance ac�vi�es such as backwashing,
water balancing and general troubleshoo�ng.
• Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the
workplace and community.
• Performs other du�es as assigned.
Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
• High school education or G.E.D. and four to six months of related experience or training;

or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in aquatic
operations.
• Lifeguard Instructor Cer�fica�on (LGI), Cer�fied Pool Operator (CPO) and CPR/First-
Aid/AED Instructor cer�fica�ons within 90 days of hire. WSIT within one year of hire.
Valid State of Iowa driver's license with sa�sfactory driving record. Must be 18 years of
age. Must pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
• High school education or G.E.D. and seven to twelve months of related experience or
training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience as a
lifeguard and water safety instructor.
• Lifeguard Cer�fica�on and Water Safety Instructor Cer�fica�on.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abili�es
• Ability to add, subtract, mul�ply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common frac�ons, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved
writen or oral instruc�ons.
• Ability to compute rate, ra�o, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized
situa�ons.
• Ability to effec�vely present informa�on in one-on-one and small group situa�ons to
customers, clients, and other employees of the organiza�on.
• Ability to prepare writen materials, including records, reports and promo�onal
materials.
• Ability to read and interpret reports and journals.
• Ability to reliably and predictably carry out du�es.
• Knowledge and skills in the techniques of facility management and supervision of
personnel.
• Skill in using computers and applicable so�ware applica�ons (Microso� Office – Word,
Excel, Outlook).

No supervision of direct reports.
