Job Summary
Under general direc�on, prepares the weekly u�lity bills.
Essen�al Job Du�es and Responsibili�es
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive
or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Enters informa�on into computer system for weekly u�lity billings.
• Monitors, analyzes, adjusts, and verifies accuracy of u�lity billing informa�on; resolves
problems with high and low water meter readings or bills.
• Signs up customers for services and answers ques�ons and complaints from the public
and City employees concerning City policies and procedures regarding u�lity services;
directs unanswered problems and inquiries to appropriate City personnel.
• Establishes u�lity payment plans in accordance with City policy.
• Assists wastewater with billing calcula�ons and enters into Munis system and mails
no�ces to customers.
• Establishes and maintains various correspondence files and sta�s�cal data; composes
and types variety of correspondence.
• Performs u�lity bill adjustments; updates record accordingly.
• Generates deposit refunds for final u�lity bills.
• Assesses late fees on delinquent u�lity bills.
• Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the
workplace and community.
• Performs all other related du�es as assigned.
Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
• Associate’s degree from an accredited educa�onal ins�tu�on and one year of related
experience; or three years of related experience and/or equivalent combina�on of
educa�on and experience. Experience in u�lity billing, managing so�ware, or related.
• Must pass criminal background check.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educa�onal ins�tu�on; or four years of related
experience and/or equivalent combina�on of educa�on and experience. Experience in
u�lity billing and so�ware management for water u�lity industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abili�es
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,
propor�ons, and percentages.
• Ability to effec�vely present informa�on and respond to ques�ons from groups of
managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instruc�ons furnished in writen, oral, diagram, or
schedule form.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment.
• Ability to read and understand technical materials, technical procedures, or
governmental regula�ons.
• Ability to reliably and predictably carry out du�es.
• Ability to solve prac�cal problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in
situa�ons where only limited standardiza�on exists.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Knowledge of u�lity billing procedures.
• Skill in using computers and applicable so�ware applica�ons (Microso� Office – Word,
Excel, Outlook), Munis system, and financial management so�ware.
• Skills in trouble shoo�ng so�ware issues.

No supervision of direct reports.
