My only comments would be that notifications to the public made in previous years should be duplicated. Also, we would typically ask that all arterial street crossings be staffed by Police and all ‘other’ crossings be staffed by volunteers (I would recommend the same unless the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has a different plan. In this event it should probably be ok’d by ICPD). Proper barricades and signage alerting motorists to street closures should be handled similar to previous years. ICPD or the Sherriff’s office should be familiar with these plans. Kent Ralston, AICP Assistant Transportation Planner Metropolitan Planning Organization of Johnson County 410 E. We would ask that all arterial street intersection have police (or Sheriff’s Deputy) patrol, and all other intersections must have qualified volunteer patrol Participants must obey all traffic all traffic laws and yield right of way to emergency response vehicles. Towing requests for the race route must be properly posted, and coordinated with the Police Department. We would ask that police traffic control assistance (which may entail utilization of call-back officers on overtime) be coordinated with the Police Department’s Day Watch st Commander at (3190 356-5276 no later than July 1, 2012. Please remain aware of the potential for noise complaints due to amplified sound. If the Police Department receives excessive noise complaint they may be asked to lower the volume or possibly cease this activity. Rick Wyss Iowa City Police Department 410 E.
