I have been impressed with his awareness of the issues involved and have worked out traffic assignments for our officers. At this point, the ICPD will only need to have three (3) officers involved. The limited number of officers needed is due, in great part, to Pasha’s estimate of 100 to 150 participants and the fact that they will be using trails and sidewalks for much of the run portions of the race. Pasha has/will continue to coordinate other parts of the course with other jurisdictions. Pasha and I will reassess the particulars of ICPD staffing in later May when he has a better idea of how many participants will be in the race. The ICPD approves the route, as proposed. Lt. I've attached a revised plan based on some of the concerns the police officers had when we spoke last. I'm hoping now that we have a bit more time to plan, we can make a great event happen. I've attached the permit and a general plan with maps included, but of course we can discuss in more detail when we have time to meet. I'm pretty flexible most days so it would be great to meet as soon as all parties and departments involved have time. Thanks in advance. With respect run #2, Police may be necessary at both the bridge crossings (Burlington & Benton) unless the plan is to stay on the sidewalks (which may not be feasible). Participants should be reminded to be courteous of other non-participants using the sidewalk/trail system as they will not be closed to the public. The county should also be notified of these plans.
