I have requested the Certificate of Insurance and will send that separately. Also, maps and street closing /barricade requests are normally sent closer to May when we have more of our current year logistics worked out. I do want to bring up a few changes that are on the applications: We are asking for street closure the evening prior to the Arts and Jazz Festivals rather than the morning  the festival starts. The reason for this is that as our festivals have grown and we have added additional space/areas such as the Beverage Garden, FUN Zone, Green Initiative Area, Emerging Artist Pavilion, Backstage Hospitality areas, etc., it takes more time to get things set up. Our staff is continually scrambling to be ready to go "on time", and we have traffic jams for artists, operations crews, volunteers etc. all trying to cram into the small window of time we have to get set. Risk management and safety would be easier to maintain with our proposed schedule. These requests are made after doing festival evaluations with our operations vendors, artists, volunteers and sponsors and they all have a strong interest in this new plan. For Iowa Arts Festival- we only need Iowa Avenue between Clinton and Linn, as well as Dubuque  Street between Iowa and Jefferson closed on Thursday evening at 6pm. Also having access to set up the Ped Mall tents on Thursday evening. This would allow us to get most of the set up of tents, tables and chairs, stages, and operations primarily done Thursday evening and Friday morning would run much smoother. Not closing streets until 6pm allows most downtown workers to leave work or businesses at the end of the day without impacting a large number of people who would need to move vehicles. For the Iowa City Jazz Festival - we would need Clinton between Washington and Jefferson and Iowa  Avenue from Clinton to Dubuque closed at noon on Thursday. This would allow the rental company to come in and get the tents, stages, and operations in place and still have time to go spend the 4th of July evening with their families. The remainder of the set up would occur on the Friday morning of the festival. It is our understanding that buses do not run on the 4th of July, so that helps to not disrupt that from Clinton Street. Also for the Iowa City Jazz Festival, we have asked for a larger festival area, by extending down Iowa  Avenue toward Linn Street. We plan to add the new ice skating rink from Big Ten Rentals to this area, and also all of our children's activities and FUN Zone area. We have already had a local bank approach us to sponsor the ice rink and think what a neat opportunity to ice skate in July while fireworks are going off above you at the Jazz Fest! 1
