They will pay for one officer on overtime to help control traffic as the runners turn on Foster Road. The other intersections will be covered by volunteers. He understands that there will be a fee for reimbursement of the officer’s overtime. They will be responsible for cone placement on Foster Road to allow for sufficient room for two-way traffic to continue. With these comments the PD supports the plan. If on-street, Foster Road must remain open – it is the only access into the Peninsula neighborhood. Participants should be warned there will be traffic. Race volunteers should be stationed at intersections to warn runners of any on-coming traffic. The Peninsula and Mackinaw Village neighborhood Associations should be notified of the event (Marcia can hopefully provide contact info). Access to and from homes must be permitted. If on-street, the organizers should post temporary ‘Race in Progress’ signs on the affected streets. Applicant should be reminded to also notify Johnson County and Coralville for the sections of the event in their jurisdictions.
