There are actually two levels of participation in the Iowa City Police Neighborhood Watch Program. Level One is for households/individuals who want to know more about crime in their neighborhood, but do not wish (or have time) to participate in a formal program. • Level One participation allows for timely information/notices to be given directly to you about crime issues in your neighborhood. In addition, you will receive a quarterly newsletter dealing with crime prevention issues specific to our community. Level Two is for those households desiring to take a more active approach to crime in their neighborhood by committing to “keep watch” with a geographically identified group of neighbors. • Level Two participation gives you all the information/notices and newsletter listed above. In addition, an Iowa City Crime Prevention Officer will assist you in enlisting your neighbors (boundaries are set by the Police Department) to band together to “keep watch” of your neighborhood. An 80% participation level allows for a “Neighborhood Watch” sign to be erected at both ends of the designated area, stickers are provided for your front door, and each household is given a security guidebook.
