The program will provide financial assistance to property owners for projects that will help manage stormwater runoff and/or improve stormwater quality. The program will help cover the costs of materials such as plantings, dirt, rock, pavement, and/or contractor labor. Projects may include rain gardens, bio-retention cells and pervious pavement. If approved, the City will pay up to 50% of the cost of these projects, not to exceed $3,000. Funding is also available for the improvement of stormwater infiltration in established lawns. This would require a six-inch deep tine aeration and application of 1/2 to 3/4 inches of compost over the aerated lawn. If approved, applicant’s costs will be reimbursed up to 50%, not to exceed $2,000. A limited amount of funding is budgeted for these stormwater projects by the City of Iowa City each year. Reimbursements will be based on the amount of available funding at the time the request for reimbursement is made. Comprehensive projects that span more than one property are often most effective and will be given a higher priority. INSTRUCTIONS 1. Fill out the application and include a sketch of the proposed work. Attach any estimates or quotes you may have received. 2. Make sure that the application is signed by the property owner(s).
