Wall Installation INTRODUCTION The City of Iowa City Public Art Program is seek-ing artists, artist teams, engineers, architects or others interested in creating a permanent wall installation at Robert A Lee Recreation Center, 220 S Gilbert Street, Iowa City. This wall space (8’ wide x 15’ tall) is located on the top floor of the recre- ation center, in a very high traffic location and immediately visible when entering the building from the Gilbert Street entrance. The goal of this project is to design and install an interactive, S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) based project that stimulates thought, con- versation and creativity for the diverse de- mographic of visitors to the recreation cen- ter. The project should also incorporate as many of the following features as possible: DEADLINE: December 23, 2016 interactivity providing multi- sensory experiences a cause and effect learning ex- perience reflective of the STEAM curriculum accessibility to a wide range of abilities including but not limited to people with sight, sound, mo- bility or other limitations a sense of play that occurs throughout the rest of the recre- ation center interaction/connection/teamwork between multiple users of the project art – in any of its many forms minimal noise due to location near City offices relationship/connection to the Iowa City and/or Iowa communi- ty low to no maintenance operation antimicrobial if physical contact is necessary with the installation HOW TO APPLY The submission must include all of the information and materials described below. Applicants contact information including name, business name (if applicable), phys-ical ad- dress, mailing address, telephone and email. Teams must identify one primary contact, as well as contact information for each applicant on the team. Statement of Interest. Explanation of any connection to Iowa City, University of Iowa and/or State of Iowa. Maximum Two-Page Resume that outlines professional accomplishments. Three professional references including: name relationship to applicant email address phone number For applications involving multiple partners, include two-page resumes and three profes- sional references for each member. A minimum of six (6) and maximum of eight (8) images of past works. Images may be submit- ted via email, flash drive, CD or through a link to a website. Identify images with project title, location, date completed, media, dimensions, budget, commissioning agency, project part- ners, and/or brief description of the project/ conceptual information. All materials must be emailed to Marcia Bol- linger, Iowa City Public Art Program Coordina- tor at Marcia-Bollinger@iowa-city.org no later than 5:00 p.m. CST on Friday, December 23, 2016. Incomplete and late applications may be deemed ineligible at the sole discretion of the City of Iowa City Public Art Advisory Commission. PROJECT BUDGET The total budget for the completed and installed artwork is $4000.00 and the project is funded through the Iowa City Public Art program. SELECTION PROCESS A preliminary staff panel will review applications and select one of the applicants or applicant teams that submit qualifications. This committee will then make a recommendation to the Iowa City Public Art Advisory Committee. PROJECTED TIMELINE Friday, December 23, 2016 - Response Dead- line Friday, January 6, 2017 – Selection of Appli- cant January 9, 2017 – March 3, 2017 – Execution of project agreement and design phase June 15, 2017- Project completion QUESTIONS Please contact: Marcia Bollinger, Iowa City Public Art Program Coordinator at 319-356-5237 or Marcia-Bollinger@iowa-city.org.  APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY Successful applicants must demonstrate vision, past experience and professional qualifications required to design and create the work and willing- ness to work collaboratively with staff and other STEAM professionals to finalize the design. Team applications should demonstrate the qualifications of its individual team members, as well as their qualifications to work together on projects. This RFQ is open to artists, artist teams, engineers, architects, student teams or others with priority given to those with ties to Iowa City, University of Iowa and/or the State of Iowa.
