The goal of the Citizens Police Academy
is to promote a better relationship
between law enforcement and the
community it se rves through education
and hands-on learning.
The Citizens Police Academy will meet
once a week for ten weeks for classroom
and hands-on instruction. Additionally,
each student will also have the
opportunity to ride along with a patrol
officer as they perform their duties. The
ten weeks will consist of a graduation
ceremony.
The instructors are comprised of law
enforcement officers and outside guest
instructors that work on a daily basis in
their area of instruction.
The forum for the Citizens Police
Academy is not designed to stage a
debate on police department policies, but
rather to inform and answer questions the
citizens might have.

WOR K I N G T O GET H E R
The real strength of law
enforcement continues to come
from working with its citizens. The
officers, civilian employees, and the
community coming together is an
example of the cooperation needed
to face today’s challenges in our
community. The Citizens Police
Academy is one contribution to this
important partnership.
