The City of Iowa City has successfully moved the Aid to Agencies application process to a two-year cycle. The City of Coralville has also suspended the application process for FY22 and FY23. These are all great news, however, not all cities/counties and agencies involved in this funding process are on the same page. Some of the funding organizations, like United Way of Johnson County, continue to request that agencies apply for funding each year. Moving to a two-year cycle will only be beneficial if everyone involved is on the same cycle, otherwise it will be difficult for agencies to keep up with different deadlines and requirements. We must make this process a joint-funding application process, where all agencies and cities involved are following the same cycle, whatever timeframe they agree this cycle should be. Then, agencies would be able to save time and money. We would like to request that you contact cities, counties and agencies involved in this process to start a conversation and better coordinate this funding process. Thank you for your consideration, Maria Padron Chair Housing and Community Development Commission CC: Matt Drabek (Vice Chair) Peggy Aguilar Megan Alter Lyn Dee Hook Kealey Theresa Lewis Nasr Mohammed Peter Nkumu Kyle Vogel
