CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by McConville 4 PM.
RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL:
None.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS:
Motion: To elect McConville for the position of Chair for the calendar year
2021. Motion carried on a vote of 6/0. Vogel/Dorfman
Motion: To elect Goldsmith for the position of Vice Chair for the calendar
year 2021. Motion carried on a vote of 6/0. Goldsmith/Eberley
Motion: To elect Vogel for the position of Secretary for the calendar year
2021. Motion carried on a vote of 6/0. Goldsmith/Dorfman
APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE DECEMBER 17, 2020 MEETING:
Motion: To accept the minutes from the December 17, 2020 meeting. Motion
carried on a vote of 6/0. Vaugh/Goldsmith

PUBLIC DISCUSSION:
None.
OPERATIONAL OVERVIEW:
DeLoach reported the February program calendar will be mailed next week.
Virtual programming has enabled people from outside of the Senior Centers
normal reach to participate. She noted the Senior Center recently had its first
international member. Reopening dates are not known but staff is continuing to
discuss opening phases and procedures.
The Programming Committee will be meet on Friday, February 5t" at 1PM. If
commissioners are interested in attending, they are asked to contact Michelle
Buhman.
Vogel inquired if people who are vaccinated might be allowed in the building
before others. DeLoach said she was unsure but could look into that possibility.
COMMISSION DISCUSSION:
DeLoach reported the architectural firm that was writing the building master plan
report closed at the first of the year. This was not known about before it
happened. They submitted a report that is about 95% completed. DeLoach is
working with the facilities staff to find a new firm to complete and polish the
report.
Kromray noted the two policies in the packet had minor revisions. The personnel
policy updated the staff positions to reflect what they currently are. The winter
weather policy now includes the information that if Iowa City Community School
district goes to virtual learning for the day due to weather the Senior Center will
cancel in person classes at the Senior Center.
Motion: To approve the revised Personnel Policy. Motion carried on a vote
of 6/0. Vogel/Dorfman
Motion: To approve the revised Winter Weather Policy. Motion carried on a
vote of 6/0. Goldsmith/Eberly
Discussion of the presentation to Johnson County will be added to next month's
agenda.
McConville asked Commissioners and staff what their preferred pronouns are.
