Preliminary Minutes
August 19, 2021
Senior Center staff had an in-service retreat day. Staff reviewed the mission and
vision statements and may be updating them slightly. There is an open
receptionist position and advertising for it is underway.
The building master plan is moving forward. There have been a few meetings
with the architecture firm OPN. There will be a presentation for commission and
City Council soon. The final report is due this fall. The next stage will be the
design phase.
COMMISSION DISCUSSION:
On September 2nd for the Senior Center's 40th anniversary there will be a
screening of the movie ET at Chancey Swan park in partnership with Film Scene.
Ice cream and cupcakes will be served. The Senior Center is partnering with the
Library for a Grandparents Day story time. The Washington St doors will be
painted with a birthday theme for the month of September. Lastly, DeLoach is
hopeful there will be a proclamation for the Senior Center's anniversary and
National Senior Center Month. Dorfman wanted to know what happened in the
event of rain for the movie screening. DeLoach stated it would be canceled and
there would be an attempt to reschedule.
Beckman mentioned the delta variant and is glad the mask mandate is back for
City buildings. She mentioned the upcoming booster shots for vaccination.
