The work will include removal and salvage of the existing brick street. Rebuilding the street with a new concrete base and re-installation of the brick surface with new concrete curb and gutter. This work will result in a completed street similar to the current Davenport Street between Clinton Street and Linn Street. Sidewalk along each side of Fairchild will also be replaced and sidewalk at the intersections will be replaced to add ADA complaint sidewalk ramps. The work will also include the following: • New 8” Water Main • New drainage system including storm sewer piping and intakes PROJECT TIMELINE: The project is anticipated to start in Spring 2022, with completion by Fall 2022. HOW WILL IMPROVEMENTS BE PAID FOR? The project will be funded by City Road Use tax revenues and was budgeted under the City Capital Improvement Program. Costs for improvements will not be assessed to properties adjoining the project. WILL STREETS BE CLOSED DURING CONSTRUCTION? Construction on Fairchild Street will require closure of Fairchild Street. WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO MY PROPERTY? Work will require removal and replacement of driveways. Access will be limited to alleyway access for property with alley access. Property with only access from Fairchild will require staged driveway construction to maintain access. WILL SIDEWALKS BE REPLACED? Sidewalk will be replaced within the project limits. Sidewalk ramps will be installed or replaced to meet code and ADA requirements. WILL MY WATER/SANITARY SEWER SERVICE BE DISRUPTED? Minor interruptions to water or service of select properties will occur and will need to be coordinated to reduce impact. The City contractor will coordinate service interruptions directly with property owners to minimize inconvenience. Thank you for your collaboration as we work to improve our streets.
