The Commission meets
monthly, with special
meetings scheduled when
necessary. Service is on a
volunteer basis.
Applicants must be at least
18 years of age and reside in
Iowa City.
General Duties of the Commission:
•Information and educating the public on civil and human rights.
•Planning programs and activities to eliminate various types of discrimination.
•Making recommendations to the City Council for any further legislation as it
relates to discrimination.
•Making Recommendations to the City Council on Grantees for the Social Justice
and Racial Equity Grant Funding.
