A fundamental building block of building bridges is dialogue and listening to voices that are often silent.
Event leaders aim to combat ongoing hate speech and fear-mongering tactics and rhetoric by bringing residents with diverse
backgrounds together to listen and learn from each other and build a stronger community.
The first session speakers include: Former Iowa Congressman Jim Leach, Mayor of Iowa City Jim Throgmorton, and
Mayor Pro-Tem of Iowa City and Equity Director for the Iowa City Community School District Kingsley Botchway.
The second session encourages active audience participation through break-out groups where experiences revolving around
specific topics will be discussed and action plans proposed.
Light refreshments will be served at both sessions.
