Dear Redmond,
COVER LETTER - ANAMAN CONCIERGE SERVICES
I am writing to submit a Statement of Interest on behalf of Anaman Concierge
Services, LLC. regarding support for our Transportation Service Boniness in the Iowa
City/Coralville Iowa area. Our services include but not limited to Private Airport
transfers, Airport Shuttle Service, Employee Vanpool, Events/Conference
transportation Services, and General Chauffeur services.
My name is Felix Anaman, Owner, and Chief Executive Officer of Anaman
Concierge Services LLC., originally from Accra, Ghana, located in West Africa. I
have a passion for creating business opportunities that provide tailor-made
solutions to communal problems.
In my home country Ghana, I had the opportunity to work in several sectors
including a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that provided support for the
youth in the area of employment. At the age of twenty (20), I managed my own
Fashion business and had five (5) employees. My creative work in the fashion
industry got recognized especially by several textile companies including
Akosombo Textile Limited (ATL) one of the biggest textile manufacturing
companies in Africa, based in Ghana. I was recognized at several award
ceremonies including the first ever Ghana Fashion Awards, 2011, the Young
Creative Entrepreneur Fashion Awards, 2011 organized by the British Council in
Ghana, the Fashion Front Awards New York, 2013 as well as honors at the
Inspirational African American Leaders of New York 2013. In Iowa City, I was the
first person to introduce and to do a street fashion show through the Summer of
the Art celebration, June 6, 2015.
My wife, Omolola and I started Anaman Concierge Services from the basement
of our home in Iowa City, in 2017. By 2018, we had moved into our first office
space at 808 5th Street, Coralville. Currently, we have over 40 employees and
operate from 2461 10th Street, Suite 308, Coralville and 3319 Highway 1 SW Iowa
City Iowa 52240. Anaman Concierge Services provides the community with a 24-
hour dedicated and reliable transportation service to meet the needs of families,
individuals, and institutions in and around the area.
As part of the 150 years’ celebration of the City of Coralville, we were honored as
a business that had exemplified the spirit of local business in Coralville as well as
having impacted the economy of Iowa City and the United States as a whole.
These achievements come despite the different kinds of challenges we are faced
with including discrimination and investor or financial support constraints.
We have persevered to build a successful and resilient transport business that
serves the needs of the community based on extensive clients and community
engagements with positive feedback. We now seek to extend our services as well
as support other enterprises in our community.
As a minority owned transportation business, we have been in operation for six (6)
years and counting. Anaman Concierge Services has been phenomenal in the
provision of transportation services and seeks to expand its services when
awarded the grant to support its business for both physical space and business
support. This will offer us the opportunity to hire more employees.
Not only do we serve the city in bridging the transportation gap in the hospitality
industry, we are also more like “first responders” as we help create the best first
impressions in the minds of the visitors we transport, including our major partner,
the University of Iowa.
We therefore apply for a grant of $2,500,000.00 to enable us to build our own
office complex. This, we believe, will create more jobs. The proposed office space
will serve as our hub which will house our fleet of vehicles, an auto mechanic shop,
a washing bay as well as provide office space for our operations. We intend to
also offer other office spaces to small minority owned businesses at a highly
subsidized charge.
In conclusion, the grant will enable us to expand our services which will bridge the
transportation gap in the area and provide physical space support for other
enterprises or businesses.
We greatly appreciate your taking the time to look at our application. We are
thrilled about the prospect of this opportunity and are eager to talk more about
what we are hoping to accomplish.
Yours sincerely.
………………………………..
Felix Anaman
Owner and Chief Executive Officer
Anaman Concierge Services, LLC.
2. A general description of the project including the purpose, benefits, and specific
goals of the project. Demonstrate the community benefit of the project using
qualitative and quantitative measurements. Specifically, note how the project will
accomplish the goals outlined in the Inclusive Economic Development Plan and
City Council Strategic Plan
We, at Anaman Concierge Services believe that our intent in respect of this
Statement of Interest will be beneficial to the city as well as the United States of
America as a whole. We intend to undertake ventures that will create jobs,
support emerging businesses, and mentor new businesses to greater heights.
We intend on building an office complex that will serve as our primary office
location. This will consist of a well-equipped call center, administrative and
support staff offices, an auto mechanic shop for our fleet of vehicles, and a
washing bay which will be open to other small businesses for use at a subsidized
fee. We also intend to provide support for emerging businesses in line with the
Inclusive Economic Development Plan by making available office rental spaces
at highly subsidized rates to other small businesses.
As a growing business, we intend to use part of the funding to support business
development programs that will create awareness and exposure for Anaman
Concierge Services.
Our workforce is a diverse one. We are an equal opportunity employer with a
diverse workforce of forty (40) employees and still hiring. Out of these 40
employees, we have staff from a variety of racial, ethnic background, and, with
3 of our employees on the autism spectrum.
If granted the BIPOC funding, we will expand our services, which will have a
positive impact on the economic growth of the city. There will be increased
employment and improved conditions of living. For instance, our employees living
with developmental disabilities have improved their social skills and are currently
independent and self-sufficient. We believe the improvement, especially in
relation to their social skills, is due to the fact that Anaman Concierge Services has
given them an opportunity in society.
3. A description of how the project builds community resiliency following the
COVID-19 pandemic by building capacity to serve residents of the community.
The COVID-19 pandemic greatly affected many businesses and we at Anaman
Concierge Services were no different. In the industry in which we find ourselves,
we deal mainly with human connections and so during the lockdown period, our
business suffered a great deal to the point of nearly closing.
During this low point in our business, Anaman Concierge Services received some
funding through the Small Business Administration (SBA) whose main mandate is
to assist small businesses. Anaman Concierge Services benefitted from the
Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL)
Program. The PPP helped us to sustain payment of employee, whereas the EIEL
helped us to acquire many more vehicles, consolidate our some loans and pay
them off.
4. An estimated project budget including how much in City assistance you are
requesting. Identify both the proposed sources and uses of funds for the total
project. Identify if each funding source has committed funds.
By this Statement of Interest, we are requesting for the sum of $2,500,000.00 which
will enable us to undertake and successfully deliver on this project. It is our hope
that the City will fully fund our request. However, in the event that the city is unable
to grant us the entire amount requested, we will seek support through our bank
to supplement the amount granted by the City Council.
Land: $500,000
Building Structure: $2,000,000
5. A preliminary timeline for the execution of the project. The City intends for all
grant funds to be expended by December 31, 2026. If this is not possible in the
project schedule, please detail the estimated draw-down time frame.
When given the grant, Anaman Concierge Services with the assistance of the
contractor will work to meet the timeline of the City. The City will be informed of
any delays should they arise for proper direction.
Due to the limited time frame for the submission of this Statement of Interest, we
were unable to furnish the City with a formal report on the timelines. However, we
trust that the project should be completed within 18 months from the start of work.
6. A statement about the organization’s ability to perform appropriate grant and
financial management, including any related experience managing city, state,
or federal grant funds. Provide 3 years of financial statements of the lead
organization, if available. Please indicate what type of technical assistance may
be needed to help prepare the organization for grant management
responsibilities.
As mentioned earlier, Anaman Concierge Services has in the past benefited from
funding from the Small Business Administration. We applied the funding from the
PPP to support our bi-weekly payroll and the EIDL also enabled us to purchase
more vehicles to boost our fleet of cars, consolidate our loans to pay some of
them off.
At Anaman Concierge Services, we believe in the spirit of service to the
community. We are therefore very certain that when the grant is received by us,
we will apply the funds not only for the benefit of Anaman Concierge Services but
also help us bridge the transportation gap in the community.
Attached to this Statement of Interest is our 3-year financial statement.
To execute the project timeously, we intend to engage an experienced project
manager with the technical know-how for executing projects of this nature while
providing periodic financial and progress reports to the City. We are also open
to technical advice from the City Council.
7. A description of all work related to the project that has been completed to date,
if any, including any secured funding, contracted professional services, property,
land acquisition, grant or loan activity, etc.
Anaman Concierge Services is currently scouting for land for the purpose of this
project.
We are also in discussions with our bankers for a possible loan to supplement the
grant should that arise, but, we are very hopeful and trust that we will be granted
the full amount that we need for this project.
8. Any other information, including letters of support, the submitting agency deems
appropriate. As the funding entity, no letters of support should be sought from City
of Iowa City staff or elected officials.
Please find attached to this Statement, letters of support.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, our business’ capacity to effectively and efficiently employ
financial resources to fulfill our purpose of offering the Iowa community safe and
effective transportation services has been demonstrated.
We are certain that our grant management experience and financial
management system will allow us to develop our business and meet our
objectives as well as the expectations of the City in respect of the Inclusive
Economic Development Support for Underestimated Businesses and
Entrepreneurs. We are privileged to have Community CPA as our accounting firm
that deals with all our accounting needs.
I appreciate your consideration.

RE: Support for Anaman Concierge Services
Greetings,
As someone who has worked to boost the economic growth of our area, I know how important first
impressions are to the many guests who visit our area. Dignitaries, investors, business leaders, artists,
speakers and political figures all make stops in Iowa City throughout the year. Those who are
transported by Anaman Concierge Services always receive the most hospitable and professional
welcome to our area. Felix and his growing staff are always on schedule and provide the highest level of
customer service to their passengers which helps local businesses, the University and the entire area
shine. They are a great representation of what exceptional customer service is.
I trust you will receive so many excellent applications and the decisions on which businesses and
organizations receive funding will be difficult to make. I hope you will consider providing some growth
capital to Anaman for all they do and will be able to do with your support for our area.
Thank you for considering,
Mark Nolte
