Agency: Table to Table Questions: 1. Why are the categories for beneficiaries inconsistent? For example, 16,738 reported under geographic, 38,234 under age and gender, and 47,387 under ethnicity. Table to Table data is a collation of data from a subset of our partners who are the only partners who collect all or some of the data in the way you’re asking for it. These partners account for the majority of the people served and the majority of the food we distribute due to their extensive service reach. While this subset report unique individuals and households, not all report geographic area or demographic data. In addition, geographic location is collected on our partners’ forms by household, so there will be fewer households than individuals. Demographic information is 1) collected by the individual or only for the head of household depending on the partner and 2) an optional question. All of these factors contribute to the discrepancy between demographic and service number data. 2. Is the operating deficit in the budget accurate? This year's budget more closely matches our internal annual operating budget than it has in previous years. The primary discrepancy is that the joint funding budget asks us to include grant amounts from local funders that fund capital expenditures like vehicles and technology, which we don't normally include in our operating budget. Because of the timing of the funds for these projects vs. expenditures, the bottom line deficit is actually less than we have budgeted for. We have a 3-year planned budget deficit for strategic growth in fundraising and program development.
