HomeMy WebLinkAboutHourly STEAM Arts Nature Camps Program07/01/2025 Hourly STEAM/Arts/Nature/Camps Program Job Openings The City of Iowa City Recreation Division is accepting applications for positions within the STEAM/Arts/Nature/Camps Program areas. Hourly program staff assignments may include the following: Summer Camp Counselor $15.00 per hour Variable daytime hours up to 25 hours per week or Full-time season daytime hours* Start & end dates are negotiable within May – September season *Seasonal full-time positions are limited to a 5-month duration Definition of Work: Plans and leads activities in a camp setting for children that have completed K- 4th grade in the previous academic year. Responsible for groups up to 10 in number. Assists in conducting the Summer Camp program at the Mercer Park Aquatic Center, Scanlon Gym and various city parks. Includes AM and PM supervised play, equipment and supply provision, and maintenance of camp records (attendance, parent correspondence, health records, etc.). Has frequent, direct contact with children and parents and must be an effective communicator. Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age. Experience planning and implementing children’s recreation activities preferred. Interest in leading activities in all camp areas required. Ability to take and give direction required. Attention to detail required. Must be enthusiastic, resourceful and motivated. First-Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to acquire required. Must pass criminal background check. Hours of Operation: Varied daytime hours, Monday through Friday.
