Mobility Research
Of 3rd graders from families with incomes below $10,000, 30% have changed schools
frequently, compared with 10% from families with incomes $25,000 -$49,000, 8% of
children in families with incomes of $50,000 or more (US Gen. Accounting Office)
Of the nation's 3rd graders who have changed schools frequently (changed schools 3
or more times since 1st grade) 41 % are below grade level, compared with 26% of 3rd
graders who have never changed schools
Children who have changed schools 4 or more times by 8th grade were at least 4
times more likely to drop out, than those who remained in the same school
