Position Title: Media Production Services Coordinator

Job Summary
Manages and oversees the Division's Media Production Services group, government and community
video production, audio/visual and digital program production and post-production. Facilitates program
cablecast and distribution of Division programs. Reviews and determines Division media standards
including systems design, quality control, production priority and production staff assignments.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Manages the Community Television Service (CTS) including collaboration with community
organizations to aid completion and delivery of television programming to meet community information
needs.
Receives production requests and maintains records of community client production, support and
programming activities.
Serves as Commission Staff for the Iowa City Telecommunications; attends Commission meetings
and performs duties as Secretary.
Prepares periodic reports regarding City media productions and other activities.
Assists in preparation of annual Division budget.
Researches and recommends equipment purchases for media production and post-production.
Performs and supervises video production including studio and field production, lighting, production
planning, set design; photographic projects, script writing, consultation, audio/visual production and the
set-up and dismantling of equipment in a safe manner.
Directs, supervises and evaluates the work of permanent and hourly video production and support
staff.
Recruits and oversees work-study, intern and volunteer employees.
Develops appropriate training programs and materials.
Operates and/or troubleshoots a variety of video, audio, electrical and mechanical equipment.

Performs general equipment maintenance.
Coordinates and/or provides media support services for other City departments and access channels
including audio visual equipment use, recommendations, troubleshooting and maintenance.
Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger,
handle, or feel; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and
arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk or stand. Specific vision abilities required by
this job include close vision.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather
conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in media production/television or a related field from an educational
institution accredited by a DOE recognized accreditation body required. Five years of experience in
television production or media production required. Experience working with community organizations
required. Significant experience with videography, video editing, scripting, TV studio production and
multi-media graphics required. Significant management experience required. Ability to prepare written
annual reports, bid documents, and to understand accounting documents required. Experience with
Internet and computers, current non-linear computer editing, digital field and studio acquisition
equipment and audio recording equipment required. An equivalent combination of education and
experience may be substituted for education/experience requirements. Valid driver’s license and
satisfactory driving record required. Must be 18 years of age per Iowa Code 92.8. Must pass criminal
background check.
Preferred Education, Experience and Certification
Master's degree or equivalent in media production/television from an educational institution accredited
by a DOE recognized accreditation body preferred. Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems
required. Computer database experience desired. Experience working in cable access television
desired.
