The City Iowa City encourages diversity in the appointment of citizens to boards and commissions. Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2021. I currently serve as the vice chair of the Ad Hoc TRC which has helped me gain great understanding of how city meetings are run. I pay attention to ICPD issues in the city and have had both positive and negative experiences with ICPD over the years which has given me a good grasp on areas that could be improved through policy. I think it's vital that we start this process on a local level so that we can eventually do this at a national level. As a white woman, I know that I'm not ideal as a member, but many of my jobs have been about making sure that things comply with fairness and sensitivity guidelines. I want to be of service in this endeavor because I work hard and have an eye for detail. If I'm chosen for any commission, I would check any white savior inclinations at the door and do my best to serve this community.
