HomeMy WebLinkAboutPOST information - generalPolice Officer Selection Test (POST) The National Police Officer Selection Test (POST) will be administered to all candidates who do not have a passing score on file with Stanard and Associates, Inc. (dated within one year of anticipated cer- tification of hiring list) and who are not ILEA certified. Successful completion of the POST is a require- ment for entry into the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. The test includes four timed sections (arithmetic, reading comprehension, identification of grammar/punctuation/spelling errors, and writing skills) designed to measure cognitive skill critical to successfully learning and performing the job of Police Officer. No prior training or experience in the job of Police Officer is assumed of candi- dates taking this test. A passing score of 70% in each test section is required to continue in the process to the physical fitness test. The test takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. The City will provide a study guide and one online practice test at no cost to the candidate. Contact Human Resources for more information or to request. Candidates who have been excused from having to take the POST because they have a passing score on file with Stanard and Associates or because they are ILEA certified will be notified by Human Re- sources.
