When chairing a monthly Commission meeting on November 1, 2021, I was reminded by city staff that my term on the commission expires on December 31st of this year. Staff also asked if I intended to serve another term on the Climate Action Commission to which I indicated that I would definitely be interested in continuing to serve. Unfortunately, the process for applying for another term was not communicated to me and I missed yesterday's deadline for"reapplying"for a position on the Iowa City Climate Climate action commission . Rachel Kilburg contacted me this morning, apologizing that apparently no one had clarified processes and deadlines for reapplication to the the commission and suggesting that I submit a late application. Rachel also suggested that it would be important for me to notify the City Council via email that I had missed the deadline and respectfully request that my late application be considered. I am hoping that this email request can be added as correspondence to the City Council's agenda packet for next week's meeting. Please be assured that I do not expect my application to be favored simply because I am presently a member of the Iowa City Climate action Commission. I fully understand the importance of city rules and "level playing fields" for all applicants to Iowa City Boards and Commissions and will fully respect your ultimate decision relative to my late application. In the end, you are the the best judge of competency, passion and diversity in filling Iowa City board and commission positions. Thank you very much for you consideration,. Respectfully, John H. I apologize that I have not been able to attend the last few meetings. I was hopeful I could attend tonight, but unfortunately will not be able to again. My heart is with the committee, but my mind is not at this time. The committee would be much better served with someone who can provide the time and energy this important role deserves, and I truly apologize for not being able to fulfill my commitment to the committee. Thank you so much for your understanding. I know the committee will continue to make the best decisions that foster greater affordability and equity for housing needs in IC. Sincerely, Theresa
