Job Summary
Under immediate direc�on, performs work of rou�ne difficulty in the cleaning and maintenance
of City parking facili�es and equipment.
Essen�al Job Du�es and Responsibili�es
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive
or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Cleans, including bodily fluids, sweeps, dusts, waxes and mops restrooms, windows and
floors in City parking facili�es, lobbies, booths, ramps, stairs, elevators, vacuums carpets,
emp�es rubbish and wastepaper from offices.
• Collects trash and removes debris from City ramps and parking lots.
• Maintains City parking equipment and spiters including changing light bulbs, filling
�cket spiters, changing central units and dispensers; performs rou�ne repairs on
equipment and gates, as needed.
• Replaces equipment in cashier booth, repairs and maintains signs and equipment.
• Performs subs�tute cashier du�es in parking ramps; receives parking �ckets from
customers, collects money and makes change in the City's parking facili�es.
• Provides customer service through providing informa�on and helping customers find
their vehicles.
• Assists persons that are stranded in elevators.
• Provides grounds maintenance, trims bushes and trees, removes graffi�, and paints
areas.
• Removes snow and ice from lots, ramps, and public spaces.
• Operates street sweeper, sander, trucks, front-end loader and other related equipment.
• Provides for safety and security of facili�es and requests assistance from supervisors or
law enforcement.
• May issue parking cita�ons inside the ramp, as needed.
• Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the
workplace and community.
• Performs other du�es as assigned.

Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
• High school educa�on or G.E.D. and four to six months of related experience or training;
or equivalent combina�on of educa�on and experience. Experience in building
maintenance.
• Valid State of Iowa driver’s license with sa�sfactory driving record. Must be 18 years of
age. Must pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
• High school educa�on or G.E.D. and seven to twelve months of related experience or
training; or equivalent combina�on of educa�on and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abili�es
• Ability to add, subtract, mul�ply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common frac�ons, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruc�ons furnished in
writen, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situa�ons.
• Ability to effec�vely present informa�on in one-on-one and small group situa�ons to
customers, clients, and other employees of the organiza�on.
• Ability to follow oral and writen instruc�ons.
• Ability to make simple mathema�cal calcula�ons and make change.
• Ability to read and understand work orders and maintain writen job records.
• Ability to reliably and predictably carry out du�es.
• Ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of custodial materials and equipment.
• Skill in the opera�on of various equipment including two-way radios, cash registers,
computers, floor scrubbers and wet vacuums.
Supervision
No supervision of direct reports.

is frequently exposed to outside weather condition, dampness, direct sunlight, dust, pollen,
insect stings, and animals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Involves

to stress due to the work environment and/or crisis situations.
