Job Summary
Under general direc�on and supervision, provides clerical support for the Public Works
Administra�on and Engineering Division Office. Performs rou�ne clerical du�es and provides
general informa�on to the public regarding policies and services. Answers phones at the front
desk and responds to requests for informa�on from staff and the general public.
Essen�al Job Du�es and Responsibili�es
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive
or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Greets the public and provides rou�ne informa�on and assistance.
• Answers the phone; takes and delivers messages.
• Helps track and maintain inventories of opera�onal supplies.
• Prepares releases, permits, periodic reports and correspondence upon request; deals
directly with the public.
• Performs miscellaneous office du�es such as typing, copying, filing, Laserfiche, data
entry and upda�ng manuals and code books and is responsible for maintaining the file
system and distribu�on of plans and specifica�ons to prospec�ve bidders.
• Sorts and delivers incoming and outgoing mail.
• Tracks stormwater best management prac�ce (BMP) program applica�ons and
reimbursements.
• Assists with collec�ng and processing documents related to public improvement and
development projects.
• Maintains the file system, including file entry and storage.
• Manages the Adopt-an-Intake Program.
• Assists contractors and the public with comple�ng permit applica�ons.
• Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the
workplace and community.
• Performs other du�es as assigned.
Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
• High school education or G.E.D. or pursuit of degree and one to three months of related
experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• High school education or G.E.D. and four to six months of related experience or training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abili�es
• Ability to add, subtract, mul�ply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common frac�ons, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruc�ons furnished in
writen, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to communicate effec�vely with the public and staff.
• Ability to compute rate, ra�o, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situa�ons.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instruc�ons, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to reliably and predictably carry out du�es.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Knowledge of basic office equipment, filing and sor�ng techniques.
• Skill in using computers and applicable so�ware applica�ons (Microso� Office – Word,
Excel, Outlook).

No supervision of direct reports.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Duties are generally performed in
